Psychotherapy Services and Mediation

Psychotherapy: Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a series of one-to-one sessions with a licensed mental health professional to assist you in resolving emotional concerns

Do you often feel anxious, sad, emotionally exhausted? Could you get along better with your coworkers? Do you feel alienated from your partner? Family? Friends? Are you tired of trying to please everyone except yourself? Do you feel that people take advantage of you? Do you find yourself mentally re-playing troubling events?

You will begin to understand and let go of inhibiting hurts, conflicts, and disturbing memories. Learn to look at yourself objectively so that the changes you make support your well-being. Discover new techniques so that you get different results. Counseling can assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself so you can build self-esteem and better relationships.

Goals of Individual Psychotherapy

  • Get to know yourself better
  • Learn to gather information, weigh pros/cons in order to make wiser choices
  • Practice problem-solving techniques so that you can take positive purposeful actions in your life
  • Discover the right steps to take to enhance your relationships and/or career opportunities
  • Find your true self
  • Identify self-defeating behaviors and replace them with healthy positive behaviors that support your creative growth.

The self-discovery process is not always easy. Finding your true self, making wiser choices, developing healthier problem-solving techniques and making changes in your life that support your life dreams requires hard work. As your therapist, I will assist you in your journey through the mental and emotional distress that is causing you difficulty. I will listen compassionately and empathetically. We will work together so that you can make the changes you need to make in order feel better about yourself and your life. I believe in your ability to change and will challenge you in a direct and compassionate way. After all, “you carry yourself everywhere you go”—so take the first step toward living a happier more gratifying life.

Psychotherapy: Couple Counseling

Couple counseling is a series of sessions between two persons and a licensed mental health professional to address problems of communication, conflict, and patterned behaviors that result in mistrust, anger, frustration, and avoidance.

Men and women struggle with intimacy, love, and companionship. What are your expectations in your relationship? Are these expectations spoken or are they assumed? Are your expectations realistic? What is working in your relationship and what is not working? Do you have a clear understanding of what it means to be “in love?”

Couples therapy can help you take a realistic look at your relationship. Develop effective skills of communicating with each other without blame and judgment. Learn and practice “conflict resolution.” Move into creative solutions for age-old problems. Recognize each other’s strengths so that you create a more lasting, trusting, honest relationship, one in which your treat each other with dignity and respect.

Goals for Couple Counseling

  • Develop healthy, effective communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving techniques
  • Learn how to resolve conflict
  • Recognize each others strengths
  • Learn the true meaning of Intimacy
  • Treat each other with dignity and respect

Couple therapy is not always easy. You must be willing to take an honest look at yourself and ask yourself several important questions. Who are you deep inside? What is strong, good, and excellent within you? What is keeping the best that is in you from making its way into your relationship? It may be time to find out. As your therapist, I can help you identify and change patterns that consistently cause you stress, frustration, and feelings of separation and loneliness. I will listen compassionately and challenge you to work together to create and/or reconnect to what you want and need in your relationship

Mediation

Divorce Coaching

Divorce may be inevitable, but it is not necessary to have an adversarial outcome. Divorce coaching is a specialized service that specifically addresses the emotional issues during and resulting from a divorce.

Rule 31 Mediation

Mediation is an informal process used to resolve differences, provide alternative to litigation, and avoid courtroom battles. Family Mediation provides needed assistance in resolving issues such as custody, visitation, property, and spousal support for those couples who have agreed to divorce or separate and assures a safe and supportive environment for discussing and solving these difficult issues.
